Care-A-Van

The Care-A-Van is a specially equipped 40 foot van which offers free health education and screening services. Its purpose is to promote good health, to prevent health related problems through education and early detection and to inform seniors and connect them with available community resources.

Eligibility:

Available to all Ulster County residents age 60 and over.

Services:

The following early detection and screening tests are available free of charge:

  • Blood Glucose (diabetes)Health Inventory (height, weight & medical history) Hemoglobin (blood test to measure iron/anemia) Hypertension (high blood pressure) Stool Guaiac Kits (checks for blood in stool specimens) Urine Screening
  • Vision

Scheduling:

The van operates from April 1 to December 15 on scheduled weekdays from 10am to 2pm. Call for scheduling - 840-340-3456. The schedule is also available in S.C.A.N. (free county-wide newspaper for seniors), local papers and senior clubs. Appointments are not necessary.

Please Note:

The services provided by the Care-A-Van do not replace regular visits to your Doctor. Visits to the Care-A-Van should be made between regular doctor visites to check on your current health status and to receive information and education on health care.
