
Business Certificates are filed in the County Clerk's Office. Prior to filing a new business an individual should come into the office and search the name to ensure it is not in use. If the name is available the following process must be completed:
There are two other filings that effect Business Certificates:
*Fees must
be paid in cash or by money order payable to the Ulster County Clerk.
We do not accept personal checks for the filing of business
certificates.
We notarize in this office with proper photo identification.

Corporations
and Limited Partnerships are filed in the County Clerk's Office but are
processed through the Department of State. Once a Corporation is approved
by the State the County Clerk's Office will receive a certified copy for
filing in our office. Also, all related activity on the Corporation will
be filed in our office through the Department of State. Our corporation
papers go from 1856 to present. Our records are open to the public Monday
through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If a copy of a corporation that was filed
in our office over ten years ago is required it must be accessed from
our off site storage facility. The copy will be available the following
work day.
