Emergency Communications

Controlled Burn Reporting

Some municipalities allow controlled burns of yard waste. If you are planning on burning, the following list identifies who issues burn permits in your community. Always check with these officials to determine if there are other restrictions on open burning. Once a permit is obtained, it is necessary to call the Emergency Communications Center at 845-338-1440 each day before you begin burning, and each after you finish burning. Even if you live in an area where no permit is required, it is still necessary to call the ECC each before starting your fire.

Remember, you are responsible for any damages caused by a fire you start!
