TO: ALL COUNTY EMPLOYEES AND ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES FROM: Sheree Cross, Director Golden Hill Health Care Center JOB VACANCY: Head Nurse Permanent-Provisional, Full-Time, Benefited LOCATION: Golden Hill Health Care Center, 99 Golden Hill Drive, Kingston, NY 12401 SALARY: $24.99 Per Hour / Grade 15 FILL DATE: December 22, 2011 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the responsibility of monitoring and supervising the delivery of nursing care to the residents of a health care facility. An incumbent is responsible for administering a high standard of nursing care in accordance with nursing practices and procedures and maintaining such in the management of a clinical unit, special unit or ward within a health care facility. The work is performed under the general supervision of higher level nursing personnel allowing for wide latitude in making professional judgements as they pertain to the delivery of nursing care. The incumbent is responsible for supervising lower level nursing personnel including licensed, certified or non-certified nursing personnel. Does related work as required. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of professional nursing techniques and their relation to medical and surgical practices and skill in their application; working knowledge of ward management, clinical unit management and supply distribution practices; ability to supervise the administration of the therapeutic measures prescribed; ability to secure the cooperation of others; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to understand and carry out technical oral and written instructions; sympathetic attitude toward the sick; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A.
Graduation
from a regionally accredited or
B.
Graduation
from an approved three (3) year school of professional nursing and one year of
experience in professional nursing activities; OR
C. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and two (2) years of experience in professional nursing activities; OR
D.
An
equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in A, B and C.
Special Note: When employed at the Golden Hill Health Care Center, in accordance with the New York Department of Health Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) program, it is required that a CHRC be obtained for any non-licensed prospective employees who will provide care or supervision to residents. Such employees will be considered as temporary employees when hired, until such time as the CHRC is completed and the employee’s background check is cleared, then the employees may become permanent. ***If college or university education is indicated; transcripts are required and should be attached to all applications received. A candidate lacking the required transcripts will receive a conditional approval pending the receipt of transcripts. *Please note that all Civil Service Laws and Rules apply.
