The Ulster County Planning Board is involved in a variety of housing issues and programs. The policy of the Ulster County Planning Board is "to favor those communities which seek to alleviate housing problems and to reject those actions which arbitrarily try to exclude people." this policy guides our review of Federal aid applications, recommendations for priorities, and our review of local land use activities.

The Director serves as a member of the the Ulster County Housing Consortium whose mission it is "to provide a cooperative and collaborative environment in which all persons and entities can work together to effectively and efficiently garner and use resources to execute safe, decent, affordable housing and related support services which meet the diverse housing needs of Ulster County residents." In addition, the Housing Consortium is the official advisory body of the Ulster County Legislature on housing issues and housing development in Ulster County.
