The Ulster County Department of Social Services is currently accepting applications for the 2002 Emergency HEAP cooling benefit. Eligible households may receive a $50 one-time payment directly to their electric company. Applicants must be a customer of record with the electric company.

Households requesting this benefit must complete an application and be found eligible. Each household must contain a "vulnerable" member – an individual under the age of 8 and/or over the age of 60 or be in receipt of SSI or SSD.

Applications must be received at the Ulster County Department of Social Services by the close of business on September 13, 2002. Funding is limited; therefore, applications will be reviewed and eligibility determined until September 13, 2002 or until funding is exhausted.
