ULSTER COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COUNCIL APPROVED

Ulster County Legislature Chairman, Ward D. Todd, is pleased to announce the designation from the New York State Department of Transportation, of the Ulster County Transportation Council as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Ulster County. The new MPO will be responsible for transportation planning and funding priorities for the Kingston urbanized area and for other urban communities in Ulster County. According to Chairman Todd, this is a major step for the County resulting from population growth in the last decade.

The organization meeting will be held in the County Legislative Chambers on June 4 at 3:00 P.M. It is expected that the membership will be expanded to include additional communities in the County as well as approval of federal transit funding formulas. The future work program will also be discussed.
