ORDER DECLARING STATE OF EMERGENCY

IN THE COUNTY OF ULSTER

WHEREAS, the County of Ulster has suffered from the effects of a severe thunderstorm on July 21, 2003, and

WHEREAS, the resulting damage from this storm has left more than 15,000 residents without power, numerous roads blocked by fallen trees and damage to public and private property, and

WHEREAS, all unnecessary travel is strongly discouraged due to safety concerns and to facilitate the clearing of roads and restoration of services, and

WHEREAS, the County of Ulster, in concert with its towns, villages and city, has undertaken all measures necessary to minimize injuries to persons and damage to structures,

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 2B of the New York State Executive Law, I, Richard A. Gerentine, Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature, do hereby declare a State of Emergency applicable within the territorial limits of the political subdivision of the County of Ulster, State of New York, beginning at 9:30 PM on Monday, July 21, 2003. This State of Emergency shall remain in effect until 5:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2003, in accordance with Article 2B of the New York State Executive Law.
