Ulster County Legislature Chairman Richard A. Gerentine has designated October as Red Ribbon Coalition Month in Ulster County. He presented a Proclamation to Colleen Mountford, co-chair of the 2003 Red Ribbon Coalition of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Allen Nace, Media Committee chair of Kingston Hospital, and Ellen Reinhard, 2003 recipient of the Red Ribbon Prevention Award of TFAC.

According to Chairman Gerentine, "It is the mission of the Ulster County Red Ribbon Coalition to involve families, schools, businesses, churches, law enforcement agencies and service organizations in all aspects of this campaign and establish an atmosphere that supports awareness, education and on-going initiatives to prevent illegal drug use."

He urged all citizens to join in the weeks’ activities and to work all year long to protect our community from the dangers of alcohol and other drugs.
