FROM: ULSTER COUNTY PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICE DATE: November 14, 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NOVEMBER 14, 2003 At the November 13th session of the Ulster County Legislature, Chairman Richard A. Gerentine called upon Peter Kehoe, Counsel and Executive Director of the New York State Sheriff’s Association to present to Sheriff J. Richard Bockelmann, Superintendent Brad Ebel, Lt. Ernie Taylor, Accreditation Manager, Warden Ray Acevedo and Cpl. Eddie Torres an Ulster County Sheriff’s Department’s Accreditation award. Chairman Gerentine called upon the Ulster County Historian, Karlyn Knaust-Elia to make a presentation honoring of the 320th Anniversary of Ulster County. Highlighted was an interview with Alf Evers, town of Woodstock Historian who recently celebrated his 99th Birthday. Chairman Gerentine called upon Legislator John J. Naccarato, Chairman of the Criminal Justice/Public Safety Committee and Art Snyder, Director of U.C. Emergency Management/Communication, to present to Michael Benenati, a Pride of Ulster County Award in recognition of being presented the New York State Department of Health Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Award. A Pride of Ulster County Award was presented to Steve Peterson in recognition of winning the New York State Emergency Medical Specialist of the Year Award. Chairman Gerentine then called upon Legislator John J. Naccarato, Legislative liaison to the Ulster County Food Pantry Consortium, to present to Patricia Connaughton, President, a Proclamation designating "Make a Difference in Ulster County." Victoria Langling a member of the Ulster County Food Pantry Consortium presented Legislator Naccarato with a special recognition award for his contributions to the consortium. Chairman Gerentine then called upon Legislator Wayne Harris, Deputy Chairman of the Education Tourism and Cultural Affairs Committee and Patty Jacobsen, Cathy Ellis and Kara Aiello of the U.C. Tourism Department to present to Susan Hurd, a Pride of Ulster County Award in recognition of being the recipient of the 2003 New York State Agri-Tourism Award. Chairman Gerentine then called upon Legislator Robert Aiello, Chairman of the Personnel Committee, to recognize County Employees, who have reached milestones in service to the County of Ulster. Bruce Garritt employ of Highways and Bridges was recognized for 45 years of service to Ulster County. Herbert Hekler, Director of the Planning Department was recognized for 35 years of service to Ulster County. An additional 45 county employees were recognized for 25-30 years of service to Ulster County. The next meeting of the Ulster County Legislature will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2003, at 7:00 P.M. in the Legislative Chambers, Sixth Floor, Ulster County Office Building, 244 Street, Kingston, New York. |
