Legislature To Hold Special Session

Richard A. Gerentine, Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature, has announced that the Legislature will hold a special session on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 6:00 PM in the Legislative Chambers on the 6th Floor of the Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair St. Kingston, New York. The meeting is being called in accordance with the unanimous passage of Resolution No. 203, requesting that a special meeting be held so that early proposals for the 2006 budget may be discussed. "The session represents an opportunity for the entire Legislature to come together and go over spending plans a few months in advance this year. It is my hope that the partisan squabbling, which has plagued this body at various times, will be left at the door so that the best possible spending plans may be presented in a united effort to the residents of Ulster County later this fall," stated Chairman Gerentine.

In other news, Francis A. Barbone, a volunteer in the Consumer Fraud Bureau for over 30 years, was honored with a Pride of Ulster County Award recognizing his dedicated service during the July session of the Ulster County Legislature. District Attorney Donald A. Williams stated that for 30 years, "Frank Barbone has been a beacon of strength and support for thousands of residents of this County who have been victimized by unscrupulous business practices. We were fortunate to have such a dedicated professional as Frank." Pictured below are (L-R) Legislator Al Meyer, Chairman Richard A. Gerentine, Frank Barbone, and Alice Haberski of the Consumer Fraud Bureau.
