FROM: ULSTER COUNTY OFFICE DATE: July 22, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JULY 21, 2005 Legislature To Vote On Grant Richard A. Gerentine, Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature, has announced that the Legislature will vote on Resolution No. 228 during the special session for budget review on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 6:00 PM in the Legislative Chambers on the 6th Floor of the Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair St. Kingston, New York. Resolution No. 228 would authorize Ulster County to accept a $100,000 grant from The Department of Homeland Security to the Sheriff’s Department. The grant money has been allocated for communications in an effort to support the Law Enforcement Terrorism and Prevention Program, whose goal is to prevent and respond to terrorist attacks. This marks the second consecutive year Ulster County has been awarded funds from Homeland Security."I am pleased to announce that Ulster County has been given additional resources toward this special program. Sheriff Bockelmann has done an outstanding job within his department, specifically with administrative responsibilities, and this grant is a testament to his commitment to the safety and well-being of the residents in Ulster County," stated Chairman Gerentine.
