FROM: ULSTER COUNTY OFFICE DATE: July 26, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JULY 26, 2005
Alice Tipp, Chairman of the General Services/Community Services Committee, and Kathryn Puglisi, Director of the Office for the Aging (OFA), jointly announce the need for volunteers to help assist with Medicare and health insurance issues. Specifically, those willing to volunteer will be involved in the outreach and education for Medicare Part D and the Health Insurance Counseling (HIICAP) Programs. All volunteers will be trained and would help bring forward important information to senior citizens throughout Ulster County regarding health care options. Volunteer opportunities are also available in the home delivered, congregate meal, and Ombudsman residential health advocacy programs. "Seniors helping seniors is a wonderful opportunity to help those who need assistance and support. The Office for the Aging does wonderful work and provides generous services to the residents of Ulster County but, with that, there is a need for volunteers and we look forward to working with those willing to devote personal time," stated Legislator Tipp. All who are interested in assisting senior citizens in Ulster County should call the Office for the Aging at (845) 340-3456. |
