Glenn Noonan, the current Majority Whip, has been named Minority Leader for 2006. "I would like to thank my fellow Republicans for their support in giving me this honor, and I know I can count on their continued support," said Mr. Noonan. "I would also like to let the people of Ulster County know that I am looking forward to working for them for the next two years."

The first order of business that Mr. Noonan plans on accomplishing is meeting with each of the Republican Legislators to get an idea of their respective goals and how they would like to accomplish them as well as discussing committee assignments.

Mr. Noonan will be meeting with Republican constituents throughout Ulster County to get their opinions as to the direction they would like to see the Republican Caucus follow in the next several years.

Mr. Noonan was Chairman of the Government Efficiency and Reform Committee which is the committee that was instrumental in creating the bi-partisan Charter Commission. Mr. Noonan is also Chairman of the Medicare Relief Committee for NYSAC (New York State Association of Counties).
