The Ulster County Clerk's Office acts as custodian of the records for the County of Ulster. As custodian, the County Clerk's Office oversees documents dating back to 1683 including deeds, mortgages, judgments, liens, maps, civil and criminal actions. Yearly, hundreds of people search, file, and record land records, legal documents and court papers in the office.

Driver's licenses, registrations for automobiles, and other motor vehicle transactions are also processed on a daily basis. Enforcement processing for conditional licenses, insurance lapses and ticket clearance are offered to the residents of the County.

For persons interested in starting a business, becoming a notary public or obtaining a United States passport these, and many other services, are available through the County Clerk's Office.
