SUNY Ulster is a public, comprehensive, learner-centered institution, serving traditional and nontraditional learners of Ulster County by providing accessible, affordable, quality educational opportunities for transfer, career preparation, basic skills enhancement, cultural enrichment, and lifelong learning. The College is committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents of Ulster County by serving as a catalyst for social and economic development, promoting multicultural understanding, and demonstrating exemplary service, responsive stewardship, and accountability for student learning.

SUNY Ulster is rapidly becoming the Hudson Valley's leader in information technology education and training, with six programs in computer and information technology. The College also enjoys a long tradition of successfully preparing students to transfer to many colleges and universities across the country in a wide range of majors. More than 60% of SUNY Ulster's students continue on for baccalaureate degrees.

The College became one of the first community colleges in the state to offer an associate's degree completely online. Called OASIS (Online Associate in Science in Individual Studies) the degree is perfect for residents trying to balance work and family obligations with college study. The College also offers a full range of courses that may be completed online through the SUNY Learning Network using a home computer, enabling students to set their own hours and pace for completing college courses.

Through SUNY Ulster's Artist-in-Residence, Visiting Artist and Poetry Forum programs students have an array of opportunities to study with internationally-known writers, poets, visual and performing artists and musicians.

Stone Ridge Campus: Services and facilities on the Stone Ridge Campus available to community residents include: Online library catalog system and access to a full range of electronic databases; professional search assistance during library hours; the Children's Center, providing fully-licensed day care; a 500 seat theater; tennis courts; and an 1,800 seat gym. In addition, SUNY Ulster offers one-on-one transfer and career counseling to help students plan their college and professional career.

Business Resource Center: The College's Kingston-area campus at the Business Resource Center in the Town of Ulster provides day, evening and weekend training and education. In addition to classrooms and state-of-the-art computer labs, the BRC houses the College's Development Center for Business, the Small Business Incubator, the Mid-Hudson Regional Small Business Development Center, and the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).
