Arts & Culture Advisory Council

The Ulster County Arts and Culture Advisory Council is a seven-member advisory body established to support the implementation of IMAGINE Ulster: The Ulster County Arts and Culture Plan. The Council advises the County Executive, County Legislature, Tourism Department, and Director of Arts, Culture, and Open Spaces on arts-related needs, priorities, and opportunities. Members help strengthen arts collaboration countywide by providing input, conducting outreach, and promoting the value of arts and culture across all communities.

Membership Rules

The Council consists of seven qualified members with backgrounds in the arts, four appointed by the County Executive and three by the Chair of the Legislature. All members must be Ulster County residents and represent diverse artistic disciplines and communities. Members serve three-year terms–with initial terms staggered–and may serve no more than two consecutive full terms. No County Legislator or County employee may serve on the Council.

Two non-voting ex-officio members include the Director of Arts, Culture, and Open Spaces and the Chair of the Legislature’s Economic Development Committee.
