Green the Scene Green the Scene: Zero-Waste Bound! is a new grant program designed to reduce waste and promote environmental stewardship across the County.Through this program, organizations hosting fairs, festivals, and community events can apply for reimbursement grants of up to $2,000 per event to cover zero-waste-related expenses.
County Composting Pilot Program In 2023, Ulster County began food scrap composting programs in its two largest buildings, the County Office Building and the Development Court building. The County's goal is to divert 100% of its organic waste from landfills and incinerators by 2030.
Skip The Straw Law The Ulster County "Skip the Straw Law" makes single-use plastic straws, stirrers, cutlery and condiment packets on-demand items at eateries and establishments across Ulster County. The law went into effect in December of 2019 and it covers all of Ulster County.
