Safer Streets

We are committed improving road safety by upgrading infrastructure, supporting safe driving practices, and promoting awareness campaigns that protect all road users — drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

UCAT Route Optimization

Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) is currently undergoing a comprehensive Route Optimization Plan to improve service efficiency and better serve the needs of riders. This initiative includes recent and upcoming service changes, with the County actively seeking public input for future phases.

Mobility 2050

The Ulster County Transportation Council’s (UCTC) Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) looks 25 years into the future and sets a framework to promote the safe and efficient development, management, and operation of surface transportation systems and priorities.

NYSDOT Responds to Safety Concerns at Rosendale Pedestrian Fatality

Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger and Rosendale Town Supervisor Jeanne Walsh received a response earlier this week from the NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to their joint letter calling on the agency to improve pedestrian infrastructure at the intersection of State Routes 32 and 213 in Rosendale, where a tragic pedestrian fatality occurred on the evening of January 16.

UC Exec Invites Public to Ribbon-Cutting for New O&W Connector Trail

Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger is pleased to announce a ribbon-cutting for the O&W Connector Trail. The 1.8-mile O&W Connector begins at a trailhead on Washington Avenue in Kingston, and ends at a junction with the O&W Rail Trail along Rt 209 in the Town of Hurley. This new trail connects the Kingston Greenline system with the 27-mile O&W Rail Trail.
