County Legislature Ulster County is divided into 23 Legislative Districts. Each district elects one person to be a member of the Legislature, the law-making, appropriating and policy-determining body of the County. Legislators serve two-year terms.
County Executive With a Charter form of government in Ulster County, the executive authority is vested in an independently elected County Executive who is responsible for the proper administration of all County affairs. The County Executive is elected to a 4-year term.
County Comptroller The Ulster County Comptroller is the Chief Audit Officer of the County. The Comptroller's Office audits every claim for payment, uses risk assessment to identify areas of internal control weakness, provides internal audit services, and provides data and information to the public and policymakers.
County Clerk The Ulster County Clerk's Office acts as custodian of the records for Ulster County, overseeing records dating back to 1658 including deeds, mortgages, judgments, liens, maps, civil and criminal actions. The County Clerkâs Office also manages the DMV, processes passport and notary applications, and maintains the County Archives.
County Sheriff It is the mission of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office to serve the public by enhancing our partnership with the community, and in so doing, protect life and property, prevent crime, solve problems and foster good will through courtesy and professionalism.
District Attorney The District Attorney has the sole responsibility for the prosecution of all crimes and offenses which occur within Ulster County.
