Call for Nominations: the Human Rights Community Recognition Award
The Ulster County Human Rights Commission is pleased to announce the launch of its FIRST Annual Human Rights Community Recognition Award to recognize both an individual and organization/business in Ulster County who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing, supporting, and protecting human rights in our community.
We invite the public to submit nominations for individuals and organizations/businesses that exemplify the values of equality, dignity, and justice for all.
Award Categories
- Individual Award: Recognizing a person who has made a significant impact in promoting and defending human rights through advocacy, leadership, or service.
 
- Organizational Award: Celebrating an organization/business whose programs, policies, or initiatives have contributed to honoring human rights in Ulster County.
 
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees must:
- Reside (Individual Award) or operate (Organizational Award) in Ulster County, NY.
 
- Have demonstrated actions or initiatives that align with the principles of human rights, equity and inclusivity.
 
- Have made a measurable difference in the lives of individuals or the community as a whole.
 
Nomination Process
To submit a nomination, please complete the nomination form available on the Ulster County Human Rights Commission webpage at https://ulstercountyny.gov/human-rights-commission or by written request to Ulster County Human Rights 199-13 Development Ct. Suite 600 Kingston, NY 12401
Nominations must include:
- The name and contact information of the nominee
 
- A detailed description of their contributions to human rights in Ulster County.
 
- Supporting materials, such as letters of recommendation, publicly recognized accomplishments, documented programs, policies, initiatives
 
Submission Deadline
All nominations must be completed and received by October 31, 2025.
The awardees will be recognized at a special ceremony hosted by the Ulster County Human Rights Commission on or during the week of December 10, 2025.
