Second Annual Salute 2 Vets

Dutchess and Ulster County Veteran Agencies and both Vet2Vets have joined forces to bring Veterans and the community together on the Walkway Over the Hudson!  Please join us on September 20^th as we honor our local Heroes on the Walkway that connects our two counties. 

Led by Pipes and Drums, both sides will march to the flagpole in the center where there will be a short ceremony highlighted by a live enlistment!  You will be able to witness local men and women who will be taking the Oath of Enlistment on stage in front of our wonderful community.  This is special in so many ways…  For Veterans or Active Military, it’s a reminder of the vows we all took to put our lives on the line so America could be free.  For the community, it may be the first time you are a part of this something like this.  You will be touched by this honorable achievement and those in attendance will be a part of the recruits’ memories of joining the Air Force. 

What better way to end such an honorable salute to our heroes then with fireworks!  A huge thank you to O’Connor & Partners for once again sponsoring the fireworks which will be shot from a barge on the Hudson River. 

• The evening opens at 5:30PM where there will be Veteran and Family specific resource/informational tables at both entrances of the Walkway.  Food will be provided free of charge to Veterans and Family members, and food trucks will be available for the community.
• Exclusive “Salute2Vets” T Shirts will be on sale and there will be a lot of giveaways.
• The march to the center will commence at 6:45PM and the ceremony will begin at approximately 7:15PM.
• Expect the fireworks to go off prior to 8PM
