The Office for the Aging Advisory Council is a 15-member volunteer body appointed by the County Executive to advise on policies and programs affecting older residents. Comprised primarily of adults age 60 and older along with elected officials, service providers, and community representatives, the Council guides the County’s area plan, reviews services, and ensures the needs of seniors are reflected in local decision-making.
The Council shall consist of 15 members who are appointed by the County Executive and serve terms of three years. More than 50% of members must be age 60 or older and the council shall represent the geography of the County. Members can serve for up to six years (two terms) at which time they must vacate the board for a minimum of one year before they are eligible to serve on the council again.
