Ulster County Housing Development Corporation (UCHDC)

The Ulster County Housing Development Corporation (UCHDC) collaborates with the public, non-profit and private sectors to create safe, decent, and affordable housing.  UCHDC was created in response to County Resolutions Nos. 179 and 274, calling on the Ulster County Executive to identify County-owned lands suitable for contributing to meeting the County’s housing goals, beginning with site of the former County jail on Golden Hill.

Members

UCHDC is a not-for-profit local development corporation (LDC). The sole Member of the Corporation is the County, acting by and through the chief executive officer of the County, the County Executive.

The Corporation is managed by its Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of five members, of which two are selected by the County Executive, one by the Chair of the Legislature, and a one by the Legislature's Minority Leader. The fifth member is the "Independent Director," who is chosen by the other members following the recommendation of the County Executive.

The mission of the Ulster County Housing Development Corporation is to create safe, decent, and affordable housing by working collaboratively with the public, non-profit and private sectors to ignite opportunities and provide solutions that respond to community needs, enhance community character and provide the foundation for families and individuals to thrive.
