Ulster County Pool Reopens June 20!
Published on June 08, 2026
KINGSTON, NY - Ulster County is pleased to announce that the Ulster County Pool, located at 241 Libertyville Road in New Paltz, will reopen for the 2026 season on Saturday, June 20.
For the second year in a row, Ulster County seniors and families who receive Medicaid or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be eligible for free pool access. To receive a free season pass, applicants must present their Medicaid or SNAP benefit card along with photo identification verifying Ulster County residency. Passes will be issued at the pool beginning opening day.
The New Paltz Pool Complex will be open from June 20 through September 7. After the pool closes for the season, work will begin on major upgrades, including a renovated bathhouse, new zero-entry pool ramps, a new, large splash pad, and improvements to the filtration and gutter systems. The upgrades are made possible through a $3.92 million NY SWIMS grant secured by the County.
“We’re thrilled to welcome residents back on June 20 to the Ulster County pool, one of the safest and most affordable swimming opportunities available to all of the County's residents, and we're now offering free swim lessons to season pass holders,” said County Executive Jen Metzger. “I hope everyone takes advantage of the opportunity to cool off and enjoy time with friends and neighbors this season.”
2026 Summer Swim Lessons (Free for Season Pass Holders)
Swim lessons for the 2026 summer season — offered free for all season pass holders — will run from July 13 through August 7, Monday through Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, with each class lasting 30 minutes. Online registration opens June 20 and closes June 27, and class options will be available directly on the registration form posted to the website on opening day.
