Environmental Management Council

The Ulster County Environmental Management Council (EMC) supports the protection and sustainable use of natural resources by advising County and local governments, promoting sound environmental policy, and fostering collaboration across communities for the benefit of all residents.

The Environmental Management Council meets 9–10 times per year on the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM.

Membership Rules

The EMC Shall be composed of one member from each City, Town, and Village environmental Council and commission within the County and are nominated by the governing body of that City, Town, or Village and up to an equal number of at-large appointees. Members are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Legislature for a term of three years. The Director of Planning serves on the council as an ex officio member.
