Know Your Rights

• You have the right to speak to a lawyer.
• Anything you say to CPS can be used against you in court. 
• You are not required to sign releases, until a court orders you to.
• You are not required to drug test, until a court orders you to.
• You are not required to let CPS in your home, until a court orders you to.
• Important! CPS can ask the Family Court for orders that allow them to enter your home and talk to your children. 
• Try to remain calm.  Tell the CPS worker if you want to speak to an attorney before answering questions about your family.
