Ulster County Entrepreneur Employment Grant Program

The Ulster County Entrepreneur Employment Grant Program helps small, local businesses with 5 or fewer employees (including the owner) cover expenses - payroll, equipment, rent, and more - so they can grow and hire. Half of the available funding is set aside for start-up businesses.

What This Program Will Do

This grant helps small businesses in Ulster County get the funding they need to grow. If you're starting a business or already running one with five or fewer employees including yourself, you may be able to get a grant between $5,000 and $35,000 to cover costs like payroll, equipment, inventory, rent, or business insurance. 

 

Apply

Applications will open in the fall of 2026. The Ulster County Department of Economic Development will announce the opening of the program and program guidelines and via the department newsletter – subscribe to get an update on this grant opportunity!

Eligibility

You may be eligible if your business:

  • Has 5 or fewer employees, including you (the owner)
  • Is a for-profit business — a corporation, partnership, or sole proprietorship
  • Is located, or will be located, in Ulster County
  • Can contribute 10% of the grant amount in cash as your own investment
  • Can commit to creating at least one full-time job that a low- or moderate-income person could hold, or
  • Is owned by someone who qualifies as low- or moderate-income
