Warming and Cooling Centers are short-term emergency shelters open during periods of extreme temperature or dangerous weather conditions.
As of April 1, 2026, the warming centers are on temperature-based activation. The Department of Emergency Services initiates activations when overnight temperatures are expected to reach freezing or below.
The Kingston center is located at the 2nda Iglesia La Mision Church, 80 Elmendorf St, Kingston.
The Ellenville Center is located at the Hunt Memorial Building at 124 Canal St, Ellenville.

Law Enforcement agencies or any other organizations that come in contact with or becomes aware of any individuals that are in need of sheltering can bring them to the warming center.
To request transportation assistance to a warming center, please call 211 or your local police department.
