How Emergency Housing Placements Work
Where Are People Placed?
Individuals
For individuals, we search for permanent housing first at boarding or rooming homes. If there is no availability, we locate temporary housing in a shelter or motels.
Families with School Age Children
For families with school age children displaced from their housing, we make every effort to place them in the school district of origin.
Who Makes the Placements?
Business Hours
During Monday through Friday office hours, DSS is responsible for identifying and securing emergency housing for individuals and families who come to DSS seeking emergency housing placement.
After-Hours
After 5 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends, Family of Woodstock is responsible for identifying and securing emergency housing for individuals and families seeking assistance.
Transitioning to Permanent Housing
In an effort to permanently house families and individuals, DSS partners with RUPCO to bring voucher applications to clients, help them complete the applications, and submit them to the County with available vouchers.
After-Hours Hotline
If your emergency is after-hours, call the Family of Woodstock Hotline.
