Women, Infant and Children Nutrition Program (WIC)

From the moment you find out you're expecting until your child turns 5, WIC provides extra support to help keep your family healthy. WIC provides income eligible pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum women, infants, and children (up to age 5) with healthy food vouchers, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to other services.

Step 1.Check Your Eligibility

Review the Eligibility Requirements to see if you qualify for WIC. 

Every eligible family can be certified for WIC regardless of immigration status. You can also receive WIC even if you and/or other household members are working.

Fathers and primary caretakers can apply for their children under age 5.

Step 2.Schedule an Appointment

Call our office at (845) 340-3965 to schedule an in-person or phone appointment. 

Step 3.Gather Your Documents

You'll need to bring the following documents to your appointment:

  • Proof of identity (for you and/or your child, if you are also applying for a child)
  • Proof of address (a bill, lease, or mail with your name on it)
  • Proof of income (participation in a qualifying program, OR other income proof for each member of your household like pay stubs or bank statements)
  • Medicaid card, if you have one
  • Proof of pregnancy for pregnant women, or proof of termination of pregnancy for postpartum women

Step 4.Attend Appointment & Get Enrolled

At your appointment, a WIC staff member will review all your documents and enter your eligibility information in the NYWIC system. If your eligibility is confirmed, a WIC Certified Nutritionist will determine your specific needs.

Step 5.Get Your eWIC Card

You will be issued an electronic WIC card, which works like a debit card to buy WIC-approved foods and formula at stores and pharmacies.

Step 6.Follow Up Appointment

If desired, follow up appointments will be made for breastfeeding education, nutrition education, and to provide you with other benefits for both parent and child.

Step 7.Re-Certify

After one year, bring all up to date documentation to renew WIC enrollment.
